About

Creating a framework of sustainable independent arts practice from regional Australia

Elizabeth Rogers Director, Creative Producer

I am an independent producer and maker with over 15 years’ experience working on musicals, children’s shows, dance, contemporary music, cabaret and festivals. My work has taken me touring throughout Australasia, Europe and the Middle East. The experience I hold in production management, stage management, lighting and sound design has been of enormous benefit to the shows and tours that I now produce and coordinate nation-wide.

By returning to independent work in 2022, I am pleased to be able to bring an organisational-level of support to independent artists and their work that allows for flexible strategies and engagement. Together we create work environments that buck the trend to best support the artist’s visions and their teams.

Since 2016, I have worked strategically with Northern Territory organisations and independent artists to ensure a live performance work has a life beyond the initial presentation. I have worked strategically with councils, venues and presenting partners as well as arts organisations such as Darwin Festival, Brown’s Mart, Darwin Community Arts (Darwin), Katherine Regional Arts (Katherine region), Barkly Regional Arts (Tennant Creek region), Red Hot Arts (Alice Springs) and more; nationally I have worked with Regional Arts Australia, PAC Australia, Australian Performing Arts Market and many venues around Australia (regional and metropolitan); I have sat on several peer assessment panels and with national touring advisory bodies. A career highlight for me was during my time as Performing Arts Manager at Artback NT (2016-2021) the organisation was successful in joining Australia’s National Performing Arts Partnership Framework. This saw Federal acknowledgement of the artistic contribution that Northern Territory artists and makers bring to the Australian arts landscape.

All of this involvement has seen opportunities arise for Northern Territory performing artists that have taken them touring through Asia, Europe and around Australia. During this time I have helped to raise over $2.6m through funding, sell-off fees and philanthropic support for artists in the NT.

My top values? Working from a place of rest, honesty, courage to sit with discomfort, listening and learning. Oh, and a darn good show!
